289 days was the amount of days that had passed between goals for yet to be capped Ireland striker Scott Hogan.
The Aston Villa forward ended his drought on New Year’s Day against Lee Johnson’s side when he found the back of the net with a header in the Villains 5-0 win over Bristol City.
Hogan opened the scoring after 23 minutes when he latched onto a cross from midfielder Albert Adomah before steering the ball into the back of the net after beatng City defender Nathan Baker to the ball.

“It’s not been a great 12 months but you have got to keep working hard,” said Hogan yesterday.
“I’ve not done what the fans expect of me and I’m the first to admit that but I’ll always work hard, it’s how I’ve been brought up.
“Hopefully I can get some more goals. I know what I can do and it’s up to me to do it now. And hopefully it is just the start of things to come.”
Hogan was called up to the Republic of Ireland squad for the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Moldova and Wales in October 2017.
He was an unused substitute in both games.
