Gary Cahill and Willian added two more to seal the victory but, as he wheeled away to celebrate, Pedro did so with the enthusiasm of a man who knew he had all but won Chelsea the title (Middlesbrough, West Brom, Watford and Sunderland are their remaining league fixtures).
So happy was the Spanish international that he embraced a Chelsea fan who encroached on to the pitch to celebrate with his heroes.
The supporter did not have long to savour the moment because, while Pedro and Marcos Alonso seemingly had little issue with his presence, a certain match day steward was not about to let him away with it.
The man in the high-vis came barrelling through the knot of jubilant Chelsea players as he tried to capture his prey, almost flattening Cahill in the process.
