WATCH: Former LA Galaxy striker scores FIVE in his last international to draw level with Robbie Keane

Der Bomber had 68 all to himself and then two come along at once

This shouldn’t be allowed.

Robbie was only getting used to sitting alongside Gerd ‘Der Bomber’ Muller on 68 international goals when along comes a third person to the party.

Not only that, but Carlos Ruiz has also reached the magical number on the occasion of his final international appearance – banging in FIVE for Guatemala against St Vincent and the Grenadines on Wednesday night.

Despite beating St Vincent and the Grenadines 9 (NINE) goals to 3, Guatemala still missed out on World Cup qualification after the United States beat Trinidad and Tobago 4-0.

Ruiz, who spent the bulk of his career in the MLS and Mexico, is now the top-scorer in World Cup qualifying history as this quintet took him to 38 in total, three ahead of Iranian goal-machine Ali Daei.

Ruiz has a slightly better goals-per-game ratio than the retired Ireland captain, his 68 goals coming in 133 matches as opposed to Keane’s 146.

But come on, St Vincent and the Grenadines? That is hardly up to the standard of opposition Keane faced in his career. The tiny island nation of little over 100,000 souls is ranked 156 in the world.

While Keane’s last 12 goals came against Oman (106), Gibraltar (N/A), Latvia (110) and Kazakhstan (96), Sweden (40) and the Faroe Islands (135), he also banged them in against the likes of Germany, Italy, Spain, France and Holland.
