The game was over, the title race was run and it was the time for the bad blood to be put to one side.
Chelsea’s 2-2 draw with Spurs was marred with ugly scenes throughout the ninety minutes as a grand total of twelve yellow cards were dished out by referee Mark Clattenburg.
Tempers almost boiled over towards the end of the first half when a sideline melee resulted in Mousa Dembele jamming his fingers into the eyes of Diego Costa.
It was then something of a minor miracle that the second half played out with nobody being sent off as late challenges and off-the-ball scuffles arrived more often than clear cut chances at goal.
And in perhaps the most worrying scenes of all, a full-time skirmish at the entrance to the Stamford Bridge tunnel saw Chelsea’s 69-year-old manager Guus Hiddink fall to the ground in the commotion as both sets of players tried to clash one last time.

We know that players take football seriously but behaviour like this should never be seen on a football pitch.
