He might look a bit like Sideshow Bob, but sometimes David Luiz plays more like a clown.
The PSG defender is celebrated and hated in equal measure for his reckless approach to the art of defending. When his high-risk style comes off, he can look like one of the world’s best. However, when it doesn’t work, it can lead to him amassing a huge amount of idiotic fouls which leaves his defence wide open.
Unfortunately for Brazil, we saw the latter from Luiz during their friendly with Argentina on Friday. The centre-back managed to get himself sent off after a needlessly risky dribble out of defence that saw him lose control of the ball which inspired him to inexplicably jump on an opposing player’s shins.
He was already on a yellow card at the time and the referee did not hesitate to brandish the red.
