So much for the new SAS.
Daniel Sturridge left Raheem Sterling hanging last night after his goal against Burnley when all his attacking partner wanted to do was congratulate him.
Sturridge continued to work his way back to full fitness when he grabbed Liverpool’s second with a neat header but, as he bent to his knees and looked to the skies, he was having none of Sterling’s extended hand.
The striker celebrated by paying homage up above and, even though Sterling was left stranded looking for some skin on his palm, a rare stand-off began.
Okay, it wasn’t really a stand-off but we admire Raheem’s persistence as he refused to go away until Sturridge acknowledged him.
