Wow!
What more is there to say about Christen Press’ goal on Wednesday night that rounded out a 5-0 victory for the U.S.A. women’s national team over Costa Rica.
The game was in the bag with eight minutes to play so there was absolutely no need for Press to steal her marker’s soul.
But, ruthlessly, she did so.
Press scored her side’s fifth of the game when she channeled her inner Dennis Bergkamp by controlling a cross that came in at an awkward height.
The 27-year-old took the ball around the defender by deftly flicking it with the outside of her right boot.
Press then spun counter-clockwise on a sixpence and walloped the bouncing ball beyond the diving goalkeeper.
Take a bow, son daughter!
