Let’s be honest, given the choice, most football fans would’ve probably watched Chelsea’s game with Everton ahead of Bristol City Vs Brighton on Saturday evening.
While Chelsea ripped through Ronald Koeman’s side’s defence in the opening 45 minutes at Stamford Bridge, one of their former players was scoring a goal of the season contender at Ashton Gate.
Steve Sidwell, who spent the 2007/2008 season at Stamford Bridge, gave Brighton the lead after 12 minutes of their Championship meeting with the Robins from just inside the opposition half.
Seizing upon a loose ball inside his own half, the 33-year-old pushes the ball forward with his first touch, before lifting the ball over the goalkeeper and into the net. An absolute wonder goal, from all of 50 yards…

The Brighton players celebrated by holding up a shirt belonging to teammate Anthony Knockaert. The French winger missed the game following the recent death of his father, but acknowledged the celebration in a tweet.

A hell of a goal, and a classy celebration to go with it.
Jamie Murphy, who came into the side in Knockaert’s absence, doubled Brighton’s lead before half-time, sending them in two goals to the good at the break.
