Watch: Aaron McEneff hits panenka penalty to seal Shamrock Rovers win

Shamrock Rovers midfielder Aaron McEneff scored a nice panenka penalty to seal their second win of the season against Derry City on Friday night.

The Hoops got their campaign off to a winning start against Waterford last week and made it two from two with goals either side of half-time from Dylan Watts and Aaron McEneff proving enough to seal the win.

New signing Orhan Vojic made his debut for the club as a second-half substitute for Aaron Greene and Shamrock Rovers manager Stephen Bradley said that Vojic and the new players brought into the group quickly learned what will be expected from the club this season.

“It was great to win it in the last minute. There’s no better feeling, especially a tough game away to Waterford in the first game of the season with the conditions and a big crowd,” Bradley told the club’s official website.

I think one of the positives of not having a big turnaround in the group is that the new players have understood what it means very quickly, how we work and what’s expected here.

“The lads felt that we should never have been a goal down at half time, we were playing well and creating chances. It was a fantastic free kick from Lynch, to beat Al from that distance. But we felt at half time that we just needed to keep pushing and keep playing and we’d get more opportunities, and take them when they come.”
