It wasn’t difficult to make out what Angel Di Maria shouted after setting up opener

Di Maria enjoyed his return to Old Trafford

Angel Di Maria had the last laugh on Tuesday night.

Every Di Maria touch was jeered by the home fans in a feisty opening half between Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United as five yellow cards were dished out before the break.

Di Maria flattered to deceive during his 12 months with the Red Devils after becoming the club’s then-record signing but he was in the mood to show exactly what he’s capable of when he returned to Old Trafford for the first leg of the Champions League Round of 16 clash this week.

The Argentine was one one of the most potent attacking threats on the night in the absence of Neymar and Edinson Cavani and shortly after half-time, Di Maria set up Presnel Kimpembe for the game’s opening goal.

The assist meant the world to Di Maria, whose passionate reaction didn’t exactly require an experienced lipreader.

Moments later, Di Maria was subjected to some excessive abuse as fans targeted him with bottles as he set up to take a corner on the opposite side of the pitch.

But Di Maria turned the abuse into motivation as he set up another by crossing the ball into Kylian Mbappe’s path for a second away goal and make the return leg in Paris a lot less stressful for the Ligue 1 powerhouse.
