Ander Herrera doesn’t strike you as a midfield enforcer.
Getting stuck in à la Roy Keane isn’t the strongest element of the Spaniard’s game but he came up with a tackle on Sunday afternoon that bore a striking resemblance to the most infamous challenge of Keano’s career.
Herrera only saw yellow for this studs-up tackle on Stoke’s Joe Allen, who went on to score the equaliser for the Potters.
Allen was lucky to avoid serious injury and could well have suffered a broken leg had his foot been planted in the turf.
But plenty of spectators were convinced that Herrera got off easy with a booking for this.

That was a horrendous tackle by Ander Herrera on Joe Allen, would have been a red if it was someone like Shawcross doing it.

Herrera tackle was a shocker. Should've been a straight red. Just as well the lad's foot wasn't planted. I winced just watching it. #MUFC
