Vladimir Putin has an interesting theory on the FIFA corruption scandal

Chill Sepp, Vlad's got your back

Robert Redmond

Crisis averted.

Russian overlord Valdimir Putin has weighed in on the FIFA corruption scandal, and he’s backing beleaguered FIFA President Sepp Blatter. Putin said yesterday’s arrests were a ‘clear attempt’ to sabotage Blatter’s re-election campaign ahead of tomorrow’s vote for FIFA President.

While the Russian President also took aim at the United States, saying the corruption investigation headed by the FBI is ‘yet another blatant attempt [by the US] to extend its jurisdiction to other states.’

With the greatest of respect Putin, Blatter will be re-elected tomorrow regardless of yesterday’s day of shame for the organisation, and it’ll take something extraordinary to happen today to prevent the re-election of the 79 year old.

We say this from the safety of being a few thousand miles away but you’re wrong on this one Vlad.

However, we shouldn’t be surprised that Putin has defended Blatter, apparently the pair are good pals.

(We didn’t create this image President Putin, please don’t invade Ireland).

Russia are set to host the next World Cup in 2018, before the tournament takes place in Qatar four years later. Swiss police announced yesterday they plan to investigate the awarding of the 2018 and 2022 World Cups, which were controversially awarded in 2010 and have been dogged by corruption allegations.
