Vines: Robbie Keane made an exquisite look-away pass and volleyed home a stunner last night

Long live King Keano

Ben Kiely

Robbie Keane started this year’s MLS campaign off with a bang

The Irish international record goal scorer played a major part in LA Galaxy’s 2-0 win over Chicago Fire in their season opener.

First of all, the sharpshooter made a phenomenal run, artfully avoiding an incoming sliding challenge fro a Chi-town defender before pulling off an audacious look-away pass. Unfortunately, the clip runs out before we get to see if the pass was completed but that’s really irrelevant. It was a tremendous piece of skill regardless of whether it found a man or not (it almost definitely did).

The maraschino atop the Dubliner’s stellar performance was his well-struck volley that opened his goal-scoring account for the season. Keano smashed home his superb effort in the 81st minute to provide douse out Chicago’s fire and seal the win.
