Vines: It’s time to get Daryl Murphy back into the Ireland team

The striker scored twice today and leads the Championship goalscoring charts

Robert Redmond

Republic of Ireland striker Daryl Murphy has sent Ipswich Town top of the Championship table with an impressive brace, his 15th and 16th strikes of the season.

Ipswich, managed by Mick McCarthy and featuring seven Irish first team players, recorded an impressive 4-2 victory away to Brentford today. Murphy opened the scoring in the first minute with a thunderbolt of a strike, before completing his brace with a clever piece of skill, calming rounding the goalkeeper and slotting home. We hope either Martin O’Neill or Roy Keane were at Griffin Park today.
