They say a good goalie is worth at least 10 points a season, and when you’re down towards the bottom of the table those ten points could be vital. Tim Howard may have just earned three of those vital 10 this afternoon with this incredible save as Everton face Southampton at Goodison Park.
The game was just six minutes old when Graziano Pelle’s goalbound header was heading for the net. It looked like it had beaten Howard as it looped over his body due in part to a deflection from John Stones.
But the former Manchester United man arched his back and stretched very sinew in his body to claw the ball away from crossing the line.
Just minutes later Phil Jagielka scored the opening goal and it remains 1-0 to the home side entering the final quarter.
