The worst part about this foul is that it wasn’t even a particularly good punch.
Luis Suarez didn’t have the best time of it on Wednesday night. His Barcelona side on the receiving end of a 4-1 pecker-slapping, he was outshone by a Liverpool flop and, to cap it all off, he got a swift dig in the back for his troubles.
Celta defender Sergi Gomez was seen clearly punching the perpetual biter in the back in an incident off the ball late in the second half.
The referee failed to spot any wrong-doing and the 23-year-old Spaniard got off completely unpunished.
According to 101 Great Goals, when asked about the incident after the match the Spaniard said, “Hitting Suarez in the back? Those thing can happen, but I certainly didn’t want to hurt him.”
