Clash with Demichelis sparked speculation in some quarters

For once we’re on his side

Luis Suarez is a man who isn’t shy of making a few headlines but this week he appears to be the innocent party in a pretty nasty case of trying to paint him as a serial biter.

The Barcelona man scored twice in Tuesday night’s win over Manchester City and gave a pretty much flawless exhibition as one of the club’s three strikers. However after the game there was accusation, on social media if not among the respective teams, that he may have tried to bite the hand of defender Martin Demichelis in an incident midway through the second half.

On television it appears that Suarez moves his head down towards the outstretched hand of Demichelis and there is contact between both parties. But the defender made no remark of it and it was barely noticed at the time apart from some so called eagle-eyed fans who thought that Suarez was guilty again of a third charge of biting a player on the field.

Well the Uruguayan has explained what happened and he is demanding that the media show him more respect. Chatting to a radio station in his native Uruguay he explained the background to the incident

‘He put his hand on my throat. I do not understand why they want to do this. They want to make trouble – a mountain out of a molehill. They must be hurt after what I did to them in the World Cup but they forget that I played in England and they should show me some respect.’

Suarez probably has a right to be angry because footage has emerged that shows a proper angle of what happened and it totally exonerates him.

You can see how it looks quite bad when seen from the other angle above but here is a Vine that ties in with the striker’s explanation:
