Di Maria pulls off this brilliant piece of trickery in a clip for sports manufacturers Adidas, titled ‘there will be haters’, and although there’s no one in goal to stop the ball, we’re still impressed.
What’s of greater concern though is the potentially troubling insight the clip provides into Di Maria’s life on the training pitch.
Has the most expensive player in the history of British football been sent to train alone? Where he must attempt ridiculous, impractical pieces of skill to keep himself occupied?
Is this what the futures holds for the Argentine? Will his time at Old Trafford end in ignominy, and, if so, will Di Maria then be forced to perform street soccer tricks just to feed his family?
