Class is permanent.
Vincent Kompany is one of the most decent and honest footballers in the Premier League. Manchester City and Belgium’s captaim is widely seen as a pro that everyone has a certain admiration for.
And you can sound that ‘Classy Gesture’ klaxon again tonight as the centre-half tried his best to cheer up the Belgium U17 goalkeeper after an horrendous mistake.
Jens Teunckens’ error contributed to Mali knocking the European side out of the U17 World Cup at the semi-final stage on Thursday as the game ended 3-1.
The goalkeeper apologised on Twitter this afternoon, and various teammates have tried to console him for his mistake, but Kompany trumps the lot with his message of sympathy.
Disappointed About the result and my game! Sorry Belgium and Thanks for all your messages #partofthejob

The Manchester City man reminded the netminder that ‘no-one is perfect and head up for the next challenge‘ and even the best players make horrible mistakes.
Like that time he tried to clear a ball, and instead scored the most amazing own goal possibly of all time.
.@JensTeunckens Niemand is perfect. Kop omhoog en op naar de volgende. Félicitations à toute l'équipe. #Belgium https://t.co/3OBxYVkVli
