Vincent Kompany cruelly watched Man City win League with Manchester United-supporting father-in-law

The father-in-law wasn't happy

They’ve finally sealed the title

Manchester City were crowned Premier League champions this afternoon due to local rivals Manchester United losing to West Bromwich Albion at Old Trafford.

That result put City 16 points ahead of United with five games remaining, making it mathematically impossible for United to catch them.

City captain Vincent Kompany was watching the match with his family, including his United supporting father-in-law, and the club sent someone round ready to broadcast the scenes on the off chance that United slipped up.

As it happened, Jay Rodriguez scored in the 73rd minute with the only goal of the game, securing a rare win for the Baggies, handing the title to Man City in the process. It was at this point that Man City’s Twitter account began a live broadcast of Kompany watching the game, celebrating with his family.

Kompany spoke via Facetime to Kevin De Bruyne, who expressed his excitement for what is sure to be a wonderful day for everyone involved with Man City next weekend, when they face Swansea at the Etihad.

City will lift the trophy regardless of the result, but you’d be safe to assume they will want to do it in style, and stick a few goals past the Swans.
