Watch out Djibouti, because Bhutan is hot on your trail.
There are 209 teams in the FIFA World rankings and languishing at the very bottom of that pile is Bhutan. The country only joined FIFA in 2000 and so far their only claim to fame was being on the wrong side of a 20-0 hammering to Kuwait in an Asian Cup qualifier.
However, the Asian side have just played their first ever World Cup qualifying game, and against all the odds, they actually got a result.
Bhutan defeated Sri Lanka 1-0, which considering that they lost 5-2  to them back in 2013 is a pretty impressive feat. Sri Lanka are also ranked 173rd, which is a full 36 spots above Bhutan and have over 20 times Bhutan’s population.
Despite having all the advantages, Sri Lanka handed Bhutan their fourth win in football. They join Afghanistan, Montserrat and Guam as the countries to be beaten by the minnows.
A wonderful, historic moment. Bhutan, ranked 209/209 in world, won their 1st ever #WCQ today, 1-0 in Sri Lanka. pic.twitter.com/cDxlVg1E8i
