They’ll look back on this decade and pine for it in years to come.

Our grandchildren will wish they grew up in such a time. A time of invention, of boldness, a time of joy.

Kids will be named after some of these ingenious pieces of football that swept the early noughties. Pieces to marvel at but ones which were carved out through pure sweat and frustration away from the bright lights.

Just last week, Northampton Town created a delightful free kick routine that cut through the opposition and ended up gloriously in the back of the net, finished off by an Irish man no less.

More and more, we’re seeing daring pieces of thinking football executed with deft touches. And, during Saturday’s A-League, Western Sydney Wanderers produced this magic during their 2-2 draw with Perth Glory.

Appreciate it while it’s here, folks. This is a great time to be alive.
