Gilles Yapi-Yapo suffers six serious injuries after challenge
Swiss club Zurich are set to go down the legal route against a footballer who left one of their star players in a crumpled heap after a horror tackle over the weekend.
Aarau’s Sandro Wieser committed the foul in the 19th minute and naturally enough was immediately sent off.
His injured opponent Gilles Yapi-Yapo suffered torn anterior and interior cruciate ligaments, a torn kneecap, a torn meniscus, serious cartilage damage, and deep tissue bruising in his thigh.
Zurich are now taking legal action despite the apology of Wieser who said,
‘I want to apologise in due form at Gilles Yapi and FC Zurich for the committed foul. It was never my intention to hurt Gilles.
“It is difficult to explain in retrospect, what happened on the field within a fraction of a second. As a young player, I was missing the experience in this situation to correctly assess the situation and I lack the words to explain everything in detail’
Warning-the video and slo-mo of the tackle are pretty stomach churning.
