It all got a bit frantic.
St. Pat’s are the EA Sports Cup champions after a dramatic night in Galway went the whole way to penalties. And a little bit past that too.
Liam Buckley’s side clinched the title after a goalless draw with Galway United was decided in a shootout.
Conor O’Malley was the hero for the Dubliners after the goalkeeper produced two stops during penalties to deliver a 4-3 victory to Athletic.

But there was a little bit of confusion after that last penalty. The celebrations were delayed as the players seemingly didn’t realise they had done enough to win it and the referee, too, was having a recount in his book.

It was soon cleared up though and the red jerseys were celebrating with the trophy.
