It’s a flaw in the English language that there’s no word for “catchy piece of shit”.
Because that would most certainly apply to the song published on Tottenham’s official YouTube page ahead of their Capital One Cup final with Chelsea next Sunday.
The tune is a cover of Chas ‘n’ Dave’s original “Hot Shot Tottenham” which they penned for Spurs’ FA Cup final in 1987.
But a group of fans, who have called themselves “Ledley and The Kings”, have taken it upon themselves to update the lyrics to include lines like
“With Eriksen and Chadli, we don’t miss Bale so badly
We’re gonna bring the cup back to White Hart Lane.”
To be fair, proceeds are going to charity so we’re not going to complain too much about it. But my GOD that’s a lot of cockney!
