This has to be up there as one of the strangest bookings in football history
In one of the oddest sequences you’ll ever see on a football pitch, Al Nasr striker Ibrahima Toure was given a yellow card for what seemed like an innocuous enough act.
It all kicked off when the Senegalese striker decided to pass the time while waiting for a corner kick in a rather unusual way. Toure began doing a handstand in the penalty area, which sparked an extremely over the top reaction from a member of the opposing team.
The Al Sharjah player saw red when he spotted the topsy-turvy Toure and sprinted over to the striker to turn him right-side up in an aggressive fashion. More players swarmed the duo and the referee was required to intervene to stop a brawl from breaking out.
The official took the forward aside and inexplicably showed him a yellow card. His only crime appeared to be killing time by working on his gymnastics. I don’t think there’s anything in the rule book that says you can’t do that.
