The Greek 3rd division might just have the worst officials of any football league.
In the game between world footballing beheomths Kalamata and Ahaiki, the referee awarded an 83d minute penalty to Kalamanta for foul in the box. The only catch is, the foul never actually happened.
A Kalamanta player broke free from the last line of defence and was about to unload a powerful shot. However, he managed to get tangled up with his own legs, tripped himself and went crashing down to the turf in a heap. The referee somehow saw that as a foul and awarded the spot-kick.
Either this game was a fix or that was among the worst decisions in the history of the beautiful game.
Although the penalty was converted, it proved mere consolation for Kalamanta in a 1-2 home defeat.
