And you thought Liverpool’s season ended in a shambles
Fenerbahce’s hopes of winning the Turkish league title fell apart in frankly disgraceful fashion last night as they had four players sent off and failed to beat Istanbul rivals Basaksehir.
With leaders Besiktas winning 2-0 on Sunday, Fenerbahce needed all three points to keep the title race alive, but were trailing 2-1 heading when Mehmet Topuz saw red for stamping in the 84th minute.
But substitute Pierre Webo equalised and the ten men poured forward in search of a winner, only to be caught on the break that saw Bruno Alves sent off for handling the ball on the line and team-mate Caner Erkin dismissed for dissent.
Basaksehir missed the spot-kick but the drama wasn’t over as Webo became the fourth player to receive his marching orders for this incredible studs-to-the-side-of-the-head challenge in injury time.
