There was an incredibly strange pitch invader in the Tunisian top flight recently.
The game between Djerba and Monastir in the top tier of Tunisian football was overshadowed somewhat by a live turkey that caused havoc on the pitch.
The referee had to call play to a halt as the animal darted aimlessly around the pitch, desperately fleeing players and officials who were trying to catch it. The bird proved to be pretty elusive, too, as it escaped one player’s grip and caused one of the officials to take a rather embarrassing tumble on the sideline.
The turkey was eventually removed from the pitch and play resumed. No one was hurt in the incident, although that official on the sideline’s ego was severely bruised.
