Goals scored in Brazil this year… Cristiano Ronaldo – 0, Lionel Messi – 0, Luis Suarez – 0.
Anderson – 1. One. A goal. A real life, genuine, past the goalkeeper, over the line, into the net goal.
The Manchester United flop has continued his floppy ways since his move to Internacional which included missing a penalty, being substituted in the first half more than once and getting sent off.
But he’s finally bloody come good.
All it took was bucketloads of space and a one-two with a cumbersome defender and boom, Anderson’s first goal since about 1995 was on the cards.
To be fair, it was a tidy finish but it wasn’t enough to keep Internacional from crashing out of the Copa do Brazil as Palmeiras went on to score a winner but we’re hoping that Anderson kicks on now to actually make something of a career that is passing him by.
The Ballon d’Or dream is very much alive.
