Martin O’Neill has no time for idle speculation.
The Ireland boss has been linked with several jobs back in club management since he took over the Boys in Green, but last night his patience seemed to finally snap.
Last summer he was linked with his job at Leicester, and last night a brave journalist suggested with a vacancy now at Aston Villa he might be interested in taking over from Remi Garde.
O’Neill is out of contract after the Euros, and while everyone expects him to remain on for our World Cup qualifying campaign, the Derryman has till to put pen to paper.
However, if there was any doubt he might be returning to Villa Park, this sarky answer to the question at last night’s press conference after the 2-2 draw should put the matter to bed.
So Martin how about that #avfc job? https://t.co/jO83Se7VR6

He did say it with a hint of a smile, but it was probably hiding his anger more than expressing any joy.
