VIDEO: Marco Reus goes all Ronaldo for the Bundesliga Crossbar challenge

Could he do it on a cold night in Stoke?

Kevin McGillicuddy

Aim for the crossbar and it’s bound to go in.

That was the advice of our youths coach back in the day at U14 if you were hoping to ping in a shot from 20 yards or so. More often than not the rock-hard Mitre ball would end up in the field next door with an angry bull for company but none-the-less we kept trying to hit the woodwork.

Well the boyos in the Bundesliga such as Franck Ribéry and Bastian Schweinsteiger are little more gifted in the sweet-strike department and this video of the best of the Crossbar Challenge from Germany is pretty slick.

Marco Reus comes out as top of the class with his impressive Ronaldo-esque technique and head to around the 2.50 minute mark for players looking to copy the Portuguese’s style of striking with rather mixed results:

Borussia Dortmund were crowned the winners so maybe they should aim for the woodwork more often and they might not be in the trouble they’re in currently.
