Hector Moreno didn’t mean to break Luke Shaw’s leg in September when PSV and Manchester United clashed in the Champions League.
The Mexican defender crunched into the left-back in a sickening incident that has ruled the defender out of action until well into 2016.
There was outcry at the time that Moreno wasn’t heavily sanctioned for the tackle.
Manchester United fans expressed frustration and anger that the Moreno was allowed stay on the field, and score a crucial goal aftet the incident.
Fast forward to November and Shaw is now well into his recovery, while Moreno is likely to be at the heart of the PSV defence for Wednesday night’s return clash at Old Trafford.
Ahead of the game Louis van Gaal has reassured the defender that no player will be looking to exact Roy Keane style revenge for crocking Shaw two months ago
“No, my players are not doing that [going out for revenge] I am sure of that. I don’t think that shall be an issue. I have said already that was not his purpose. In football that can happen and it is not the first time someone in football has had a broken leg.”
