The Manchester United boss let loose on the football media today for perpetually misquoting him
Last week Van Gaal claimed that “When you see the score of the last 19 or 20 matches, we are the best team in the league”.
However, he now says he was merely repeating information put to him by a journalist during the press conference, despite the fact that a lot of publications were reporting it as if Van Gaal was boasting about his team’s performances.
At the risk of being accused of spinning a story, I have transcribed LVG’s micro-rant verbatim with grammatical warts and all.
We have discussed (at the) last press conference against Swansea City, you have said it, not I.
You have said it, from the last 15 matches that we have the best results. I don’t say that. Now, I’m reading that I have said it. No, no!
I have answered “yes, I know”, because I know that… I know that, but you are writing that.
When you write it the other way around, that’s not fair because you were pushing that we were the best. You have made comment on that.
LVG continued answering journalists’ questions in a somewhat grumpy tone after speaking his mind. To see his anger-filled presser, check out the video below.
