Manchester United’s first-team age profile may be about to get even younger.
Louis van Gaal saw his youthful side dispatch Arsenal 3-2 on Sunday afternoon, with a number of players, most notably Marcus Rashford, making a big impression.
The Dutchman has put his faith in the club’s less-established stars in recent weeks, and according to reports this morning, another highly rated defender under the age of 23 could be on his way to Old Trafford.
Hull defender Andrew Robertson is already a full Scotland international, and is rated as one of the best players in the Championship.
According to The Star, he is understood to be interesting several Premier league sides ahead of the summer transfer window re-opening, including Manchester United.
Luke Shaw’s ongoing recovery from injury, as well as the club’s determination to add even more youth, is likely to see Old Trafford chiefs battle it out with Tottenham and Arsenal for his signature.
The player cost just under £3m when bought by the Tigers in 2014, but his fee is likely to be closer to £10m if he does move.
Here’s just a little taster of him in action for Steve Bruce’s side last week.
