Video: Lionel Messi’s new wax statue looks like it was asked a really difficult maths question

Befuddled

Ben Kiely

The football superstar has been immortalised in wax.

Madame Tussauds in New York has unveiled a new waxwork of Lionel Messi.

Unsurprisingly, building a realistic,  life-sized model of a celebrity is a fairly time-consuming task and this one required over 250 measurements and took up to four months to recreate the footballing wizard.

The hair alone, took a whopping six weeks, which is actually slightly less time than it takes for Cristiano Ronaldo to sculpt his own hairstyle.

While the finished project certainly looks a lot like the Argentine, or at ;east what his likeness might look like in FIFA 2022, we feel that they could have done without giving him a confused demeanour.

Like a modern-day incarnation of Pinnochio, wax Messi seems to be perpetually posing the question “Am I a real football phenom?”
