VIDEO: Jamie Carragher’s analysis of Dejan Lovren’s mistakes is excellent

How do you solve a a problem like Dejan

Kevin McGillicuddy

Everybody has been thinking it but finally someone has come out and said it about Liverpool’s rather expensive centre half. He’s pretty rubbish for £20 million

How do Liverpool do it? They take a normally excellent player and make him absolutely pants. Fernando Morientes, Robbie Keane and now Dejan Lovren are just three examples of players who came into Anfield with big reputations and didn’t live up to them.

Lovren still has time on his side but Jamie Carragher has revealed a major flaw in the Croatian, which is unlikely to be fixed anytime soon unless Brendan Rodgers was watching Monday Night Football with a big notepad for training today.

The former Red has pointed the finger at the former Southampton man for his role in exposing Liverpool to danger every single time he’s on the field.

Carra feels that Lovren’s positional sense is causing gaps to appear in the defence and that teams are exposing the distance between the centre-half and whoever is playing full back.

It doesn’t help that he looks scared s**tless every time the ball comes near him or when Liverpool are defending a set piece either.

It’s an excellent, if depressing, piece of analysis from the Anfield legend:

It’s quite a contrast to Carragher and Gary Neville’s praise of Lovren when he was rock-solid for Southampton at Old Trafford last season which makes his performances all the stranger  for Liverpool this season.
