Hannover’s Marcelo just couldn’t get a break at the weekend
The Brazilian opened the scoring in his side’s league clash against Hamburger SV, but unfortunately it was at the wrong end. Marcelo scored the own goal equivalent of a golazo to break the deadlock when his attempted clearance went the wrong way and lobbed the goalkeeper perfectly.
He then doubled the opposition’s lead when he deflected a thunderous strike from Marcell Jansen into the back of the net. Although Jansen was marked down as the goalscorer, it looked like his initial shot might have been travelling wide before it connected with Marcelo.
As if that wasn’t bad enough, he was presented with a glorious chance to pull one back for his team. He was gifted a free header, yards from goal and was unlucky to see his effort rebound off the crossbar. Artur Sobiech pounced on the loose ball and found the net.
Technically, Marcelo got the assist for his team’s goal but there are reports circulating that even that was spoiled when he discovered the straw on is post-game Capri Sun was missing.
