Gary Lineker probably hates this sort of thing
Great goals deserve great celebrations. If you’re Daniel Sturridge you get to do the wiggly arm dance. If you’re Fabrizio Ravenelli you do the shirt over the head, and if you’re like us then you attempt to slide on your knees, hit a divot and fall flat on your face… on astroturf.
Regardless of what you do its important to mark the moment you hit the back of a net, and especially when you’ve hit an absolute screamer.
We’re big fans of the Copa Libertadores, and the group stage got underway this week. One of the opeing games was the clash of Zamora from Venezuela and Uruguay outfit Wanderers with the game providing one magnificent highlight
The sides were 1-1 at half time when just after the break Arles Flores picked up the ball just inside the opposition half and belted a wonderstrike past the hapless Wanderers ‘keeper
Not content with a fantastic goal,he then had the presence of mind to grab the ball, line up his teammates in a row,and then proceed to knock them down like in 10-pin bowling.
Kudos too to the substitute joining in for the celebration.
Despite the great goal it wasn’t enough for Zamora to win and they went on to suffer a 3-2 defeat.
