A broken elbow sounds like exactly zero craic.
Ezequiel Lavezzi won’t play any part in the Copa America final after sustaining a nasty injury in Argentina’s semi-final victory over the United States on Tuesday night.
The game was something of a walk in the park for Argentina who trumped Jurgen Klinsmann’s men 4-0.
But it wasn’t all plain sailing as winger Lavezzi, who scored his side’s opener, had his tournament cut short when he leaped to reach an overhit cross-field pass.
The 31-year-old took to the air on the sidelines but was tripped by an advertising hoarding and was sent tumbling backwards, breaking his left elbow on impact.
Manager Tata Martino confirmed after the game that the injury will require surgery and that Lavezzi will therefore not feature in the final against the winners of Colombia vs. Chile.
