Imagine what his mood would have been like if Real Madrid had been eliminated?
Never has a team progressed to the last eight of the Champions League and had such a stink caused by the result. Despite losing a dramatic second leg 4-3 defeat at home to Schalke, Real Madrid made it through thanks to their 2-0 win in Germany back in mid February.
But the performance was not good, and on the back of the defeat to Bilbao at the weekend the Real Madrid fans in the Bernabeu last night were furious, booing heartily before and during the match.
One player who wasn’t at all happy with the whole thing was two-goal hero Cristiano Ronaldo.
He was caught on camera during the game mouthing to Karim Benzema ‘This is a shame, this is a shame’ in what is thought to be a reference to the crowd turning on them.

Then after the game Iker Casillas implored his team-mates to applaud the fans and Ronaldo wasn’t too pleased with the notion as this camera shot shows.

His mood hadn’t improved by the time he met the press either, as he said in the mixed zone: “I’m not going to talk. I won’t talk to the press again until the end of the season.”
Time to crank up those Ronaldo to Manchester United rumours…
