Video: Brendan Rodgers doesn’t seem too pleased with Raheem Sterling over his laughing gas video

Rodgers says it's not something a professional athlete should be doing

Oh Raheem Sterling. Do the words “low profile” not mean anything to you?

Fresh off the back of his refusal of a new contract worth £100,000 a week, the Liverpool winger has been caught up in a bit of a scandal after a video emerged of him taking nitrous oxide (laughing gas to you and me).

The gas, which is often used for anesthetic purposes, is also a legal high.

Naturally, the video hasn’t gone down too well with Liverpool’s fans and management, and Brendan Rodgers has said he’ll be having words with Sterling about his conduct.

“I’ll speak to Raheem about that so until I do that it’s something that we’ll deal with internally, but I’ll speak to him about it and maybe talk a bit more then”, he said.

“You’re a professional sportsperson at the top level of the game, I don’t think it’s something you should be doing, it’s as simple as that.

“We want players here that are super professional, that are focused on their football.”

It’s the second time in a matter of days that Sterling’s off-field behavior has been brought into questioned, after The Mirror published photos of him smoking a shisha pipe at the weekend.

Sterling scored the opener in Liverpool’s 2-0 victory against Newcastle last night, which brings them to within just four points of fourth placed Man City, giving them renewed hope of a Champions League place come the end of the season.
