He hasn’t seen antics like this since Gerhard Berger won the Japanese Grand Prix in 1987.
Ireland fans are running amok, in the most loveable way possible, in huge, exuberant pockets across Paris.
Our man Conan Doherty had the pleasure of stopping by Place de Clichy on his way to Stade de France for Ireland’s opener against Sweden.
Whilst on the scene, he caught up with an Austrian legend who has been living in the French capital for four years. You drop down to the shops for a pint of milk and return to find your street the scene of the mother, father and Uncle Seamus of Euro 2016 parties. He told us:
“I like it. It’s very funny.
“I like football and football fans, as long as it isn’t hooliganism. This is very nice, funny and many people in Paris enjoy it.”
We’ve converted another football fan to our optimistic cause.
This Austrian popped out to get some milk and ended up surrounded by Irish fans – he seems pretty happy about it toohttps://t.co/nfsjfQz2qV
