We could do with some finishing like this in the Euros.
If Andrea Pirlo tees you up, the finish better be spectacular, and to be fair, Thomas McNamara did not disappoint.
The New York City player rifled home a wonderful goal in the 2-1 win over the Portland Timbers for the Manhattan-based side on Sunday night.
McNamara is probably the most Irish sounding footballer plying his trade in the MLS, and of course, he has green credentials.
The 25-year-old’s grandfather was born here and he is eligible for the Republic of Ireland, as well as the US national side, although he is yet to get a senior call-up by either .
We’re not sounding the ‘Joey Lapira’ klaxon quite yet, but if he can fire in a few more goals like this, then perhaps someone fro the FAI should make a long distance phone call.

It didn’t take long for fans watching to start asking either.

If Tommy McNamara doesn’t get an Ireland call-up and soon… #PORvNYC

And USA fans are a tad concerned he could be swept from under their noses.

Although if he does get a call-up from Ireland, he may want to try and get a better picture than this mugshot straight out of the 1990s Seattle grunge scene.
Although, he does have previous as this goal from March proves.
