Sunday was a bad day for the alpha male buried away somewhere deep inside Adam Lallana.
He tried ‘acting the bigg’un’ with Yaya Toure, it didn’t end too well.

Then he missed the penalty that teed up the winning spot kick for his arch nemesis.
Just before hand, he had the chance to strut his stuff. All the eyes of Wembley Stadium were on him as he made his way from the centre circle to the 12-yard spot and everyone watching at home watched the proper old-school English hard man stride confidently to face off with Willy Caballero.
He wasn’t fazed.
He even took a little skip and a hop and attempted to control the ball with all of that technical proficiency that sets him apart.
But he let himself get nutmegged.
There was no way he could ever have scored after that.
Lucky he was wearing red.
In fairness, it was a bloody fantastic save but, as you can probably imagine, that didn’t make it any less frustrating for Liverpool fans.

So much for the assist.
Adam Lallana came on, hit the post from 1 yard out, got suplexed by Yaya Toure and missed a penalty. Super sub. £25m.

The future’s bright similar.
