Victor Anichebe calls for Everton to sack Frank Lampard and hire Sam Allardyce

‘Everton will 100 per cent go down if a change isn’t made.’

Former Everton striker Victor Anichebe has called for the Toffees to sack Frank Lampard and hire Sam Allardyce after the 3-2 defeat to relegation rivals Burnley on Wednesday.

Sean Dyche’s men came from 2-1 down at half-time to secure an important victory, and the Clarets now sit just one point behind Everton.

Anichebe – who made 168 appearances for the Toffees between 2006 and 2013 – posted several Instagram stories during the match at Turf Moor, which began with the Nigerian expressing his frustration when Salomon Rondon only came off the bench in the 87th minute.

Then, the 33-year-old wrote that Lampard should be sacked by Everton – after just more than two months in the hot-seat at Goodison Park.

He said: “Too late… should’ve brought him on 10 mins ago it was obvious… DCL [Dominic Calvert-Lewin] has been poor.

“The players aren’t good enough but neither is Frank. As much as I love him as a player and he looks a top guy.

“Everton will 100 per cent go down if a change isn’t made.”

After the full-time whistle, Anichebe went on to suggest that his former club should make a move for ex-manager Allardyce.

He posted a picture of Allardyce, alongside the caption: “I said it weeks ago… y’all laughed. Some said rather go down with dignity. Okkkkk.”

Allardyce – who has built-up a reputation for keeping clubs in the Premier League – endured a difficult spell during his six-month stay at Everton from November 2017 to May 2018 and didn’t endear himself to the fans.

However, Lampard has recorded just two wins in nine league matches since he became Everton manager, and the Toffees – who host Manchester United on Saturday – could drop into the relegation zone if they fail to win and Burnley overcome Norwich City on Sunday.

Sean Dyche takes a brutal dig at Everton.

Following Burnley’s 3-2 victory over Everton on Wednesday, Dyche brutally summarised the Toffees’ current struggles in his post-match interview.

“I said at half-time, I’m not sure [Everton] know how to win a game lads,” said the 50-year-old.
