UPDATE: Balotelli apologises for ‘anti-racist’ Super Mario post

Think before you post Mario

SportsJOE

Surely just a simple mistake, but he could be in big trouble now.

Only a few hours after he got in some bother for posting a picture of his arm being ‘bitten’ by Luis Suarez, Mario Balotelli’s Instagram account has gotten him in trouble again.

The Liverpool striker posted this image to his Instagram account, and considering his nickname we’re sure he just saw a Super Mario image and decided to join in the fun.

However, we can only assume that the Italian missed the text below the Nintendo character, which is in no way funny or amusing, being both racist and anti-Semitic.

Balotelli, of course, has been the subject of vile racist abuse during his career and with his foster mother being Jewish, it is highly unlikely Balotelli has any ill-feeling towards Jews or any other group.

However, in the wake of the Dave Whelan case, and the trouble Rio Ferdinand got into for his social media posts, the FA may crack on what can only be described as the latest, and perhaps the most serious, act of stupidity by Balotelli.

Balotelli has since responded on Twitter but we don;t think we have heard the last of this one.

UPDATE: Balotelli has this morning apologised for the incendiary post, claiming it was never his intention to offend anyone.

The Liverpool striker tweeted out a statement which said: ‘The post was meant to be anti-racist with humour. I now understand that out of context may have the opposite effect.’
