There are great goalscorers and there are scorers of great goals. Then there’s Cristiano Ronaldo.
Real Madrid overturned a 2-0 Champions League deficit on Tuesday night to advance to the semi-finals of the tournament. They were dragged there by one man.
Cristiano Ronaldo scored his 37th hat-trick for Real as the Spaniards advanced past Wolfsburg 3-0 in the quarter-final second leg in Madrid.
He scored his 37th hat-trick. His 37th.
The performance took Ronnie’s Champions League tally to 78 goals in his last 73 games.

The funnier stat? Well, he’s scored more goals than Arsenal in the tournament in the last four seasons.
Since September 2013, Ronaldo has scored 43 Champions League goals. Arsenal have scored 41.
In fairness, Arsenal have only had 26 games in that time compared to the Portugal international’s 33. In fairness to Cristiano, he’s only one man. Arsenal are a football club.
It hasn’t been a bad season for what has been described as a poor season.

The attacker spoke afterwards about how goals are in his DNA and nobody disagreed. He also found time to dispel another myth that he doesn’t care about the team.
