Unfortunately, football does attract its fair share of idiots
And several of them were out in force tonight at Dalymount causing trouble in the Dublin derby between Bohemians and Shamrocks Rovers.
The city sides clashed in one of the most eagerly awaited games of the new season, but the 4-0 win for the Hoops will not be the major talking point tomorrow.
Instead, a pitch invasion by rivals fans and a running battle between a tiny minority has overshadowed the game.

Reports suggest the fighting began after a Bohs supporter ran upto the Shamrock Rovers end to taunt the away fans after Rovers scored their fourth goal of the night.

The game did resume eventually, but a large garda investigation as well as queries from the FAI involving both sides is likely to bring harsh consequences for both sides.
