Dylan Watts is set for a fairytale move to a club that knows a thing or two about fairytales.
According to reports, the UCD teenager is set to sign with Premier League champions Leicester before the transfer window slams shut on Wednesday.
It’s been just two months since Watts sat his Leaving Cert but he won’t have to worry too much about CAO forms as a dream transfer is now on the cards after earning the attention of Leicester’s Head of 17-21 Recruitment David Johnson.
The Irish Independent report that the 19-year-old could make his debut for the Foxes’ Under-23 development side as early as Tuesday after an exceptional season under UCD boss Collie O’Neill.
O’Neill has overseen the meteoric progress of Watts over the past twelve months in particular, after giving him the chance in the UCD team, and he believes that an international call-up is not far away for the former St. Kevin’s midfielder.
“He has great feet, is very comfortable on the ball, and has great courage, always wanting to get on the ball,” O’Neill said. “He has a great future ahead of him, and if he continues to make the progress he has made in the last two years I see no reason why he can’t make the Irish team.”
